LATEST NEWS:
Saratoga Springs, NY -- September 4, 2008 - After nearly a decade, Gallery 100 at 462 Broadway will close its exhibit and retail doors on September 20, and reemerge as a consulting firm specializing in helping people acquire pieces for their private or professional space. The name of the business remains the same.

Founder and owner of Gallery 100 Deborah Martin said: "We're changing focus. We are reinventing Gallery 100 to make art more accessible to more people who appreciate it in more environments. Already, individuals, designers, architects, developers, and corporate clients are expressing enthusiasm about hanging outstanding art where they live, work, and spend their leisure time."

Gallery 100 has been involved in establishing diverse collections for Ayco, Saratoga Hospital, AKA Interiors, Deborah Savage Interiors, private homes and other show, sale and exhibit venues.

"Success with our loyal, satisfied clients inside and outside the Gallery encourages us to expand our outreach and cultivate a foundation for full-time consulting," Martin explained when she announced the change after almost a decade on Broadway. Gallery 100 services will include helping people to choose and install artwork, and curating and hanging exhibits.

Martin notes that Gallery 100 will continue to support artists whose work has been displayed and to expand the roster of artists who will be spotlighted in sales presentations in-person and in multi-media marketing efforts. The Gallery's online presence (www.gallery100.net and http://gallery100-deborahmartin.blogspot.com) will be enhanced with images of artists' images. Martin will work with each client personally.

"I am excited about this concept," she emphasized. "I think the change will benefit both artist and purchaser, and it's an opportunity for me to help assemble a truly custom collection for a client."

Concluded Martin: "Artists can share their creative gifts with the community through their continuing collaboration with Gallery 100. I look forward to enriching the lives of art lovers who simply know what they like, and of experienced collectors seeking specific work. We all live with art every day, and this program will put beautiful things where we want to see them."

Reception: Saturday, August 2, 6-8pm

William Brian Hibbard, Horse #106, acrylic/latex/tar on panel

Riderless polo ponies dance, twist and vault in brightly choreographed movement on the neo-surrealist canvases of Patricia Powers. Powers' new polo paintings are being shown to the public for the first time at Gallery 100 located on the second floor at 462 Broadway. In addition to this energetic polo series, her additional canvases with larger than life-size horses express the magnificence of this noble animal.

William Brian Hibbard, a resident of Greensboro, NC, is a new young artist exhibiting with Gallery 100. Hibbard paints with an experimental process involving acrylic, latex, resins, and even tar. The result is a representational expression that is both a spontaneous and intuitive mixture of texture, patinas, and line. His horses transform into personal icons of freedom.

ART HORSES also features Erik Johnsen's decorative and animated carved wood sculptures. The gallery is exhibiting his life-size carousel zebra. His current work in progress is a dynamic dragon which can be seen out in front of the gallery during Saturday's reception. The show is also complimented by the colorful new carousel paintings by Cliff Bull. These oils on canvas celebrate the charm and romance of the American carousel.

Choreography by Jerome Robbins, photograph by Paul Kolnik

Gallery 100 is pleased to present the spectacular photographs of Paul Kolnik. This year's special exhibition follows the New York City Ballet's celebration of the brilliant American choreographer, Jerome Robbins. Robbins made NYCB his artistic home for more than 40 years. Paul Kolnik has been capturing images of Robbins' oeuvre for over 30 of those years. Ballet fans will also be excited to view Paul Kolnik's most recent photographs of cherished NYCB dancer, Damian Woetzel in his farewell performances on June 18th from Lincoln Center. All work is available for purchase.

Paul Kolnik, a native of Chicago, Illinois, began his study of photography and painting at Columbia College and the Art Institute of Chicago. In 1975 he moved to New York and became associated with the New York City Ballet under the direction of Choreographer George Balanchine. His intimate association with the New York City Ballet during the past thirty years has produced hundreds of thousands of photographs. These images have become the iconography of the company in all printed media.

There will be an artist reception on Saturday, July 12 from 5-7pm. This event will feature live music by members of NYCB Orchestra. Light refreshments will be served. This event is open to the public.
